That coverage can include a person reported by Hyde County Jail or NCDAC. It does not turn the systems into one shared release record. “Out of Custody” means out of the custody reported by that facility. It does not prove that the case was dismissed, that a sentence ended, or that no other agency holds the person. - Create the telephone PIN when that method is used. Keep it available but do not share it publicly.
- Complete the live email or text verification through the code or link the system provides. Do not assume those methods use the telephone PIN.
- Save the confirmation and keep the contact information current. When a telephone alert arrives, enter the PIN as prompted to acknowledge it and stop repeat attempts.
NCDAC policy explains that automated calls continue when the PIN is not entered. That repeat behavior is part of call acknowledgement, not proof of a new custody event. Read the alert text or listen to the full message, record its time, and then check the live record.
Registration is best completed before an expected release or transfer. A later attempt may miss the earlier event. Even with advance registration, a notice can lag behind physical movement because the alert depends on the agency’s report reaching the notification system.
Confirm Hyde VINELink Releases
Call the agency named on the record when the meaning matters. For a Hyde County Jail event, ask 252-926-3171 for the recorded date, time, and custody disposition. “Not here” is too broad. Hyde VINELink No-Match Results
No result is not proof of release. It can arise from spelling, an alias, incomplete identifiers, a feed delay, a transfer, agency data limits, or archival scope. Recheck the name and identifier, then ask which facility actually booked or received the person. Hyde County’s mainland and Ocracoke geography can make the last known custodian less obvious, while the historical Ocracoke holding reference is not proof of a current separate jail.
If the person was booked locally, call Hyde County Jail. If a state sentence or Hyde Correctional Institution is involved, search NCDAC. When a case number is known, match it through North Carolina Court Portal and confirm the file with the Hyde Clerk. Only add BOP, ICE, or USMS when the facts support a federal or immigration path. NC SAVAN adds a statewide notification layer to local and state custody records. The service is anonymous, which means the person searched is not told who used it. The value is timely notice and a consistent path, not a promise that every agency event arrives at the same speed.

Use a registry record only when its limited legal scope applies. For ordinary custody alerts, stay with NC SAVAN and the responsible jail or NCDAC record.
Hyde Release Evidence Strength
