Hyde 24-Hour Release Access
The official Hyde County Sheriff page does not expose a current roster, recent-release archive, 24-hour list, or 72-hour list. No verified rolling feed means there are no official online Hyde fields, refresh times, photo rules, or display-retention periods to describe. It does not mean the release record is absent. The Hyde County Jail remains the custodian for a local booking and its custody disposition. Call 252-926-3171 and make clear that the question concerns releases during a stated interval, not just who is confined now.
A useful 24-hour interval has an exact start and end in local time. Ask whether the requested set should include every departure or only releases to the community. A transfer to NCDAC, another county, federal custody, or immigration custody is a departure from Hyde County Jail but not freedom from custody. A death or medical transfer is also not a community release. The Sheriff record's own disposition label controls the first interpretation, and a receiving-agency record may be needed next.
Check Hyde Same-Day Releases
Start with the local custodian because no online list can be filtered. Keep the request narrow. Staff may answer an informal inquiry, or they may direct the request to the records process. If exact proof matters, ask for an existing log, release sheet, booking sheet, or custody-disposition record. Chapter 132 does not require the Sheriff to create a new report or database view that does not exist.
- Write down the exact local start and end timestamps for the last 24 hours. A calendar-day request and a rolling-day request are not the same.
- Call Hyde County Jail at 252-926-3171. Ask whether an existing jail or release log covers that interval and whether departures include transfers.
- For one named person, provide the full legal name, date of birth if known, booking number, and approximate booking date. Ask for the recorded departure date and disposition.
- If telephone disclosure is limited, request the existing record in electronic form. Confirm any cost and delivery method before ordering because Hyde publishes no local fee schedule or turnaround.
- Use VINELink for a custody-status cross-check, then match the case number in North Carolina Court Portal when court action may explain the legal basis.
The broader Hyde County released inmate search is the better path for a named person with an unclear custodian. It separates county jail, state prison, court, federal, and immigration channels. Same-name matches should never be joined without an identifier.
Note: Record the source, exact status words, event time, and check time so a later update does not erase the original context.
Hyde Release Fields to Request
Because Hyde County has no inspected public feed, these are requested record fields, not claims about a web table. Ask for fields already kept in the ordinary course of jail work. A blank response means the field was not supplied. It does not prove the event did not occur.
| Requested field | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Full legal name and identifier | Connects the record to the right person and reduces same-name error. |
| Booking number and booking time | Identifies the local custody episode covered by the release. |
| Release date and time | Records when the Hyde custodian marked the departure. |
| Release or custody disposition | Distinguishes bond, court order, time served, transfer, or another recorded type. |
| Receiving agency | Shows where to continue when the event was a transfer and the field is public. |
| Case number | Links the custody event to the Hyde court file without treating court action as gate time. |
Ask staff what each time field measures. Booking-system entry time, physical departure time, and later data-entry time can differ. The record should also be read in the context of other cases or holds. Release on one charge does not prove that no other custodian took control.
The source image below comes from the Hyde County Sheriff's official contact page, the same page checked for a public release feed.
Its contact route supports a direct same-day inquiry, while the absence of a linked feed prevents presenting a fabricated list.
Hyde Release Record Fallback
Address a focused written request to the Hyde County Sheriff’s Office, Public Safety Center, 1223 Main Street, Swan Quarter, NC 27885, or mail it to P.O. Box 189. The office telephone is 252-926-3171. No dedicated records form, public hours, fee schedule, or turnaround was located, so confirm the preferred delivery method and expected charge before asking for copies.
Request an existing record, not a narrative. A precise request can identify the interval and ask for the existing jail log or release records, including recorded release date, time, disposition, booking number, and receiving agency if public. If no interval report exists, narrow the request to identifiable people. Under North Carolina Chapter 132, an agency need not compile a new report. It should address access to existing public material under the applicable law.
The NCDAC online request form shown here is only for North Carolina state-prison records, not Hyde County Jail records.
That split matters: send local booking requests to the Sheriff and state sentence requests to NCDAC.
Hyde Release Versus Transfer
A released person often disappears from a current roster, but Hyde County has no official public roster to use for that inference. More important, leaving one facility can mean several things. The dated custody-disposition record is strongest for a past departure from Hyde County Jail. Court Portal can supply bond, dismissal, judgment, or sentence context, yet a court event is not proof of the physical exit time.
| Source status | Safe reading | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| Hyde jail says released to community | The named local custody ended as recorded. | Match the case and check for supervision if relevant. |
| Hyde jail records transfer | The person left Hyde custody but remained in another agency's custody. | Follow the named receiving agency. |
| VINELink says Out of Custody | The named reporting custodian no longer reports custody. | Call that custodian to distinguish transfer from community release. |
| NCDAC inmate status inactive | State incarceration is inactive. | Read Actual Release Date and the separate supervision status. |
A documented Dare County case involved temporary Hyde custody followed by transfer to Dare custody. It is a concrete reminder that “left Hyde” is not the same as “free.” Use the exact custodian and exact disposition in any conclusion.
Note: For a wider multi-day interval that may cross a weekend, use the Hyde County 72-hour release list process.
Hyde State Release Search
NCDAC maintains an official Inmate Release Search for state-prison releases. HYDE is available as release county code 48. Searches use release county plus year and month, or a last name. Results can show offender number, name, release date, primary offense or qualifier, and release type.
This is not a rolling Hyde County Jail feed. It works at a monthly level and, at the research date, offered only recent years. A HYDE result means NCDAC attributed the state release to Hyde as the release county. It does not establish that the person had been confined in Hyde County Jail. The main NCDAC Offender Search is better for older state history and can show Actual Release Date plus a separate supervision status.
The official monthly search below shows the HYDE release-county controls.
Its month and county controls make it useful for state release discovery, but not for an hourly local-jail list.
Getting Home After Hyde Release
Hyde County Transit is a possible prearranged travel lead after a community release. The official passenger guide describes curb-to-curb, reservation-based service, generally Monday through Friday around 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. It says to reserve by noon on the preceding day at 252-926-1637.
The guide does not describe an on-demand jail shuttle, guarantee a Public Safety Center stop, or promise same-day pickup. A trip must be requested, accepted, and timed in advance. Since Hyde publishes no exact jail release hours or exit location, confirm both the release logistics with the Sheriff and trip details with Transit before relying on the plan. Family waiting space and property-return steps are also not published.
No Hyde Release App Found
No official Hyde Sheriff jail-information app, release-photo app, or systematic booking-photo social feed was located through the official Sheriff page. Hyde County Public Information’s social presence is not a verified release archive. Do not treat an app-store result, social post, or third-party recent-arrest page as an official 24-hour release list.
For a known person, VINELink is the official event-notification complement. Register on the exact record before the expected event, read the exact custody words after an alert, and call the reporting facility if “Out of Custody” could mean transfer. A no-match result may reflect spelling, aliases, timing, or system scope. It is not an affirmative release finding.
