Hyde 72-Hour Release Access
The Hyde County Sheriff’s official page provides the office contact but no current roster, recent-release archive, 24-hour list, or 72-hour list. Targeted research also found no Sheriff jail-information app. For that reason, no live table should be displayed as Hyde data. The three-day page is a records-access path: define the interval, contact the custodian, and ask for the existing log or records that cover departures during that span.
A 72-hour range can bridge three calendar days, part of four dates, or a weekend. State the exact opening and closing timestamps in local time. Also define “release.” A request for all departures may include transfer to NCDAC, another county, BOP, ICE, a medical site, or another custodian. A request limited to community releases asks a narrower question. The Sheriff record should supply the actual label rather than forcing a guess from roster absence.
Check Hyde Three-Day Releases
Work from the date range, not from a broad request for a new list. The Sheriff may already keep a jail log, release sheet, booking sheet, or custody-disposition record. Ask for the existing form that contains the needed facts. North Carolina public-record law does not require an agency to build a new database view for the requester.
- Choose the exact 72-hour period and write both timestamps, including local time.
- Decide whether the request should include every departure or only release to the community. State that choice plainly.
- Call Hyde County Jail at 252-926-3171 and ask whether an existing log covers the period. Public records hours are not published.
- If an interval report does not exist, identify the person by full name, date of birth if known, booking number, and booking date, then ask for the individual custody-disposition record.
- Match each disposition to the next custodian. Use Court Portal for case context, VINELink for a reported custody change, or NCDAC for a state transfer or state-prison release.
The Hyde County 24-hour release process is better for a tight same-day interval. The 72-hour method is meant for a wider catch-up period and should not reuse a monthly state tool as though it were a local rolling feed.
Note: Save the exact words staff use, since “released,” “transferred,” and “not here” do not carry the same meaning.
Hyde Three-Day Record Fields
Hyde County has no verified online list whose columns can be promised. The table below identifies fields to seek in existing records. It is a request inventory, not a mock Sheriff feed. Ask for only what is needed and let the custodian identify any withheld part and its legal basis.
| Field to request | Use in a 72-hour review |
|---|---|
| Full name and booking number | Separates people with similar names and joins the correct booking. |
| Booking date and time | Places the release in the correct custody episode. |
| Release date and time | Determines whether the recorded event falls inside the defined period. |
| Custody disposition | Shows the recorded basis, such as bond, court order, time served, or transfer. |
| Receiving agency | Directs the next check when another custodian took control. |
| Charges and case numbers | Links the departure to Hyde court records without confusing disposition with exit time. |
A missing field means it was not supplied in the response. Do not turn that blank into “none.” If the time seems to sit just outside the range, ask whether it represents physical departure, database entry, or another system event. Preserve both dates if the jail and court records measure different acts.
The source image below is the official Hyde Sheriff contact page used to check for a public release list.
It supplies the direct local route, while its lack of a release link explains why the three-day list must be requested.
Hyde Weekend Release Gaps
A three-day span is useful after a weekend because it reduces the risk that a same-day query starts too late. Still, Hyde publishes no weekend or holiday release procedure, exact release hours, public waiting location, or data-entry cadence. Do not assume that another North Carolina jail’s schedule applies. Ask the Sheriff how the local record timestamps the event and whether a release authorized on one day was physically completed on another.
Court and custody clocks can differ. A bond action, dismissal, judgment, or commitment order may explain legal authority, but it does not prove when the person crossed the facility threshold. The jail’s release or custody-disposition record is stronger for that physical event. A person may also remain held on another case, sentence, or detainer after one court action.
For one person, record each source as a short timeline: legal event, jail departure, receiving-agency admission, and database posting. If the sources conflict, call the Sheriff and Hyde Clerk rather than choosing the date that fits the desired window. The full Hyde County release search path helps identify which custodian should answer next.
Hyde Release Request Fallback
Send a focused county-jail request to the Hyde County Sheriff’s Office, Public Safety Center, 1223 Main Street, Swan Quarter, NC 27885. Mail may go to P.O. Box 189. The main line is 252-926-3171. No dedicated form, fee schedule, turnaround, or records-unit hours were published in the inspected sources. Confirm delivery and cost before ordering.
Ask for the existing jail log or release records for the exact period. Include whether transfers should be counted. If no interval record exists, request an identifiable person’s booking or custody-disposition record. Chapter 132 governs North Carolina public records, but it does not force creation of a record or compilation that the office does not have.
The NCDAC public-records instructions shown below belong to the state corrections channel.
Use NCDAC for a state-prison record. Keep the Hyde Sheriff request with the county custodian.
Hyde State Release Window
The official NCDAC Inmate Release Search can use HYDE as release county code 48, plus a year and month. Results show offender number, name, release date, primary offense or qualifier, and type of release. At the research date, the year control offered recent years. That makes the tool a recent monthly state-prison index, not a permanent archive.
It cannot answer who left Hyde County Jail during a rolling 72-hour span. A HYDE state result means NCDAC assigned Hyde as the release county, not that the person was booked at the county jail. For older state history, use the main NCDAC Offender Search with All or Inactive and inspect Actual Release Date. A separate active supervision status may remain after prison incarceration becomes inactive.
The official search image shows the NCDAC monthly and release-county controls.
Its wider monthly scale is useful after a state release but cannot be relabeled as Hyde Sheriff data.
Hyde Releases Across Custodians
Three-day results are safest when each system stays in its lane. Hyde County Jail handles the local booking and departure record. NCDAC handles state prison and Community Supervision. VINELink reports custody status from a named reporting agency. Court Portal and the Hyde Clerk provide case events and judgments. BOP, ICE, or USMS may matter only when federal or immigration custody is supported by the facts.
Hyde County also has two facilities that are easy to confuse. Hyde County Jail is the local custodian at the Public Safety Center. Hyde Correctional Institution is an NCDAC state prison in Fairfield. A search result that uses “Hyde” may describe the jail, the prison, the county selected as a state release destination, or a county of supervision. Before adding a person to a three-day set, confirm which use applies. The historical Ocracoke inspection reference does not establish a current independent release point. For an Ocracoke arrest, ask the Sheriff where the person was booked and which office recorded the departure.
- Actual release
- A recorded event that ended the named custodian’s hold.
- Transfer
- A move from one custodian to another, not release to the community.
- Projected release
- An estimate based on sentence calculations, not a past release fact.
- Active supervision
- Correctional oversight that can continue after prison custody ends.
VINELink is useful for a known person and an advance alert. “Out of Custody” means out of the named reporting custody. It does not by itself distinguish community release from transfer. A delayed alert can also fall outside a neat 72-hour data view even when the physical event occurred within it.
A federal path requires the same care. BOP can report that someone is released or not in BOP custody, but another agency or supervised release may remain. ICE ODLS has its own limited locator role. USMS has no comparable nationwide public locator for federal pretrial custody and transport. None of those systems should be queried just because the Hyde record is missing. Use them only when the disposition or case facts point to the federal or immigration custodian.
Note: A no-match result supports only “no matching public record located,” not a finding that the person was never held or released.
