Hyde County Parole and Probation
North Carolina Community Supervision administers probation, parole, and post-release supervision. These terms are related, but they do not describe the same legal path. Probation is commonly imposed by a court as a sentence or part of a sentence. Parole is conditional release under an older or otherwise eligible sentence regime. Post-release supervision is a period of oversight that follows release from prison under applicable law. The North Carolina Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission makes decisions assigned to the Commission, while Community Supervision officers manage eligible people in the community.
The source record controls the label. Do not call all supervision “parole.” An NCDAC detail may show incarceration as inactive and supervision as active. That means prison custody has ended for that record, yet correctional oversight continues. It is not a contradiction. The distinction matters when family members are confirming a release, checking an appointment route, or trying to understand why a person who left Hyde Correctional Institution still appears in the correctional system.

Verify Hyde County Post-Release Supervision
Public verification begins with the NCDAC Offender Search. It contains North Carolina prison and Community Supervision history, but it does not contain ordinary local jail records. Use the person’s seven-digit offender number when known. Otherwise, start with the full name and narrow by date of birth and other identifying fields. Soundex can help with a spelling variant. A public status is a good starting point, not access to the full supervision file. Detailed Community Supervision material is confidential under G.S. 15-207. Case notes, private addresses, risk material, and other protected details should not be expected through a public-record request. Basic public status may still be checked with NCDAC.
Hyde County Parole Decision Records
The Commission handles discretionary parole where North Carolina law permits it. Structured Sentencing generally ended discretionary parole for offenses committed on or after October 1, 1994, though the specific offense and sentence regime still control. Older Fair Sentencing and other eligible cases require record-specific review. A broad claim that every older case qualifies would be wrong.
No official public calendar listing individual future parole hearings was located. The Commission instead publishes monthly discretionary parole review and decision files beginning with September 2024. Under G.S. 15A-1371, eligibility depends on the sentence and applicable subsection. The statute includes minimum-term, maximum-penalty, credit, and special Fair Sentencing provisions. It also supplies refusal grounds. If a Hyde County court case helps identify the sentence, use the case number to connect the court record to the correct NCDAC offender record.
Hyde County Absconder Supervision Records
HYDE is a selectable County of Supervision in the official Absconded Probationer Search. Search by last name, county, or both, then match identity with care. An entry shows that NCDAC published a supervision noncompliance status. It does not prove present incarceration. It also does not mean the person escaped from Hyde County Jail.

Use the result as a lead for Community Supervision. Ask the responsible office to explain the current public status. A separate warrant, if one exists, must be verified through the agency or court responsible for it. When no match appears, write down that no matching result was located on the date checked. Do not turn silence into proof that supervision ended or that no violation exists. Name spelling, county assignment, timing, and record scope can all affect the result.
Hyde County Probation Office Space
Hyde County approved a lease in 2025 for NCDAC Probation and Parole space on the second floor of the Hyde County Government Center, behind the county courtroom. The lease proposal says the space supports officers assigned to Hyde residents and meetings with clients. The approved county minutes record the Board’s unanimous action. This is strong evidence of a local supervision presence.
The documents do not establish a public walk-in schedule, current daily staffing, or a direct local phone line. Confirm those details through NCDAC before traveling. Do not assume that the nearby courtroom, clerk, magistrate, and probation functions share records or can answer for each other.

Confirm through the current NCDAC office directory
For a correction to a state supervision record, identify the seven-digit offender number, the field in dispute, and the source document that supports the requested correction. NCDAC may explain the proper records route. Sheriff Guire Cahoon and the Hyde County Sheriff’s Office are the custodians to approach for a local jail release record, not the state supervision file. Keep the state and county requests separate so each office can address the record it actually holds.
Hyde County Reentry After Supervision
NCDAC publishes a Hyde County reentry resource file and identifies a local reentry council serving Washington, Hyde, Beaufort, Tyrrell, and Martin counties. That regional structure is useful in a sparsely populated area where one county may not host every service. The resource pages are navigation tools. They do not show that a named person enrolled, completed a program, or met any supervision term.
Contacts and program capacity can change. Open the current official listings before relying on a phone number or service description. A person under active supervision should also confirm whether a planned program, travel step, or change of address must be discussed with the assigned officer. Public reentry resources and confidential supervision directions serve different roles.
The regional council may help locate services after release, while NCDAC remains the source for the official supervision status. Keep those two facts separate in any timeline. A resource referral is not proof of discharge, and the end of a program is not automatically the end of supervision.
Hyde County Supervision Discharge
Supervision ends when the responsible authority records a discharge or other lawful termination. Leaving Hyde County Jail, becoming inactive in the prison status panel, finishing a program, or reaching an expected date does not by itself prove discharge. Look for the most recent supervision period and exact status in NCDAC. When the date or label is unclear, ask Community Supervision about the public status that may be confirmed.

Preserve the wording each source uses. “Released from prison; active supervision” is precise when those fields coexist. “Discharged from supervision” should be used only when the record supports it. This care prevents a release from one form of custody from being mistaken for the end of every correctional obligation.
